I pledge my life to Christ

To my future self or anyone interested,

I do not know if God is my savior because I do not know if I want to be saved. If I am one of the 144,000:

And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they remained virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were  purchased from among mankind and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb. - Revelation 14:3-4

Or far more likely I’m not that unique, and somewhere in the world is someone waiting for me.

My loyalties thus are:

  1. God, Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit
  2. The United States of America
  3. My future family
  4. My present and extended family - my parents and sister, my aunties and uncles, their respective families
  5. Values such as free and open source software as defined in The Mozilla Manifesto
  6. rUNSWift
  7. MongoDB or my current employer
  8. Australia which has disowned me through disownment of family values such as affordable housing for its citizens, as I have blogged about on many an occasion

I thank God for this insight, and understand this priority list may change in future to serve his will. For example, I didn't even think of friends or acquaintances or the poor homeless people sleeping on the steps of the Commonwealth Bank or in the deconstructed tent cities around Central Station, or the illegal powered shipping containers at Alexandria. Leaders might try to hide these massive societal problems, even from the media and the public, out of sight out of mind, but that does not mean they are not real problems faced by real people every day.

I further in choosing God have put the world below Him. I recognize that things I considered assets in the past may without warning become liabilities.

I will farewell and thank those assets which have become trash holding me back from serving God’s will and plan for my life.

Now I just need a church somewhere in the United States to call my home, instead of the base camp nomadic lifestyle where I go from place to place as I meet people on my journey through this dying world. It is a great day that I choose to find a living Christ. Shout out to Wesley Mission for being the church where I spent much of my childhood years.

Praise be to God.

P.S. I now understand:

And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. - Matthew 16:18
